Corn Chaat Recipe Ingredients:

  • Sweet Corn Cobs – 2 cups
  • Tomatoes – 1 cup
  • Red Bell Pepper – ¼ cup
  • Green Bell Pepper – ¼ cup
  • Onions – 1 cup
  • Green Chilies – 1 green chili
  • Chaat Masala – 1 tsp.
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp.
  • Cumin Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Dry Mango Powder – ½ tsp.
  • Red Chili Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Asafoetida (hing) – a pinch
  • Coriander Leaves – 1 tbsp.
  • Parsley Leaves – ½ tbsp.
  • Lime Juice – 1 tsp.
  • Vegetable Oil – 3 tbsp.
  • Salt – as per taste.

Note: You can directly use the tinned corn kernels. The sprinkle of spice powders is dependent on your choice.  You can add  1 or 2 pinch of Asafoetida (hing) or the dry mango powder only if you want.

Corn Chaat Recipe Steps:

Pre-Preparation:

  • Chop and Deseed Green Chilies.
  • Rinse, Wash and Chop Coriander Leaves.
  • Steam Corn Cob: In a large skillet, heat the water till its boiling point. Place the corn cob for 10 minutes to steam. Wait till the kernels become tender. Remove the kernels and place them in a bowl.
  • Corn Kernel Paste:
    • In a mixer-grinder, add the steamed corns.
    • Add the ginger and the green chili.
    • Grind at a medium pace till it forms a smooth paste.

Note: Use a knife to remove corn kernels. If are you using corn kernels, then do not boil them.

Preparation:

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan over a medium pan and wait till it crackles.
  • Saute the onions till they change the color and become golden brown.
  • Add the green and red bell peppers and let them roast.
  • Stir in the corns and add the corn paste. Mix well to season the corns evenly with the paste.
  • Sprinkle the spice powders with the salt and pepper.
  • Continue to stir and cook for few minutes.
  • Squeeze in the lime juice and stir well again.
  • Check the seasoning, taste and adjust the flavors.
  • Top the Chaat plate with the parsley leaves.

Note: You can use individually Saute onions in butter.
