Eggless Orange Cake Recipe

Eggless Orange Cake Recipe Ingredients:

  • Oranges – 4 cups
  • Orange Juice – 1 ¼ cups
  • Orange Zest – ½ tbsp.
  • Corn Starch – 1 tbsp.
  • Granulated Sugar –1 ½ cups
  • Cake Flour – 1 ½ cups
  • Baking Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Baking Soda – 1 tsp.
  • Vegetable Oil – ¼ cup (use saffola oil)
  • Vinegar – 1 tbsp.
  • Vanilla Extract – 1 tsp.
  • Unsalted Butter – ½ cup
  • Water – ¼ cup
  • Salt – as per taste

Note: If you have oranges at home, then prepare orange zest at home. It is the outer layer of the orange, known as orange skin. You can easily peel off the orange skin with the help of grater. Do not use the white inner portion of the orange zests as it is bitter.

You can also prepare orange juice at home or buy from store. Use Eggless Vanilla Custard Powder instead of corn starch.

If you do not have cake flour, then use the same proportion of all-purpose flour in making of the cake batter. The reason we use cake flour is because it gives spongy, soft, light and fluffy texture to cake.

Eggless Orange Cake Recipe Steps:


  • Pre-heat oven to 180 degree C for 40 minutes. (click to buy microwave oven online)
  • You can also set temperature to 190 degree for 20 minutes.
  • Cake Batter: Sift the cake flour in a large mixing bowl. Sieve the baking powder in the same bowl. Also add the corn starch powder along with the baking soda. Mix the strained ingredients properly and also add salt as per the taste. Set this bowl aside for some time for ingredients to rest.
  • Orange Juice: Wash and Rinse Oranges. Peel off their skin and remove seeds. In an electric juicer, blend the orange segments. Add pinch of sugar.
  • Orange Icing: Take the sugar in a mixing bowl, add orange juice and mix till it becomes smooth. Keeping adding juice at increments. Now add the orange zest to the icing. Whisk or beat the mixture till it takes a consistent form. Keep the bowl aside.
  • Cream Mixture: You have a whip attachment, then fix it with another bowl of stand mixture fitted. Mix the sugar with the oil. Beat the mixture of oil and butter till it becomes creamy. Also mix orange zest with some Jaggery and water. Whip at a medium speed and also scrape the sides. Do this for 5-7 minutes till the mixture achieve light texture and becomes airy. Continuously whip the mixture till it become smooth. Once done, keep this aside.

Note: Use whipping machine or you may whip with the spoon or whisker.


  • Add the orange juice to the cream mixture bowl.
  • Stir the mixture well to season evenly with the orange juice.
  • Now to this add the cake batter of the sieved flour.
  • To this add the orange zest or the orange essence from the extract.
  • Mix well the ingredients.
  • Butter and grease the cake pan.
  • Pour the batter in the cake tin.
  • Scrape the batter from the sides with spatula and add to cake pan.
  • Tap of the sides of the cake pan, so that the air bubbles are released.
  • Bake the cakes in oven until the surface becomes fluffy. It should bounce back when pinched with toothpick.
  • Remove the cake from the baking oven and keep the tray of cake pans over the wire rack and allow them to cool completely.
  • Once the cake is cooled, with the help of knife, trim the uneven top upper layer of the cake to make it look even.
  • Pour the icing mixture in a piping bag, and drizzle over the cake.
  • Let the icing settle over the cake for few minutes.
