Til Ladoo Recipe : Delicious Sesame Seeds Sweet!

This Til Ladoo recipe is easy to make and made up of roasted sesame seeds and peanuts mixed in Jaggery. The Til ladoo’s are made in every Maharashtrian family during the festival of Makar Sakranti. This ladoo’s are known as Til gul Ladoo in Marathi. Til means sesame seeds and gul means Jaggery. People share this ladoo’s by saying” Til gul ghya god god bola” which means eat this Til Ladoo and speak sweetly. This dish has a strong and appealing aroma which cannot be ignored. It has an alluring texture and a saccharine taste.

Description: The til ladoo recipe is easy to make and made up of roasted sesame seeds and peanuts mixed in jaggery. It is made in winters because it is warm for body.

Ingredients for Til Ladoo Recipe:

  • Sesame seeds/ til – 1¼ cup
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp (use patanjali cow ghee)
  • Sticky jaggery/ chikki gur – 1¼ cup
  • Roasted and crushed peanuts – ¼ cup
  • Cardamom powder/ elaichi powder – ½ tsp

Note: You can also use any other your favorite dry fruit. You have the powdered Jaggery or the grated Jaggery.

Method for Til Ladoo Recipe:

  • Take a nonstick pan and heat it under the low flame.
  • When the pan is mildly hot, add sesame seeds in it. Take care that it should not be cool and neither too hot.
  • Keep the flame low and dry roast the sesame seeds. Roast for 8 minutes while stirring continuously.
  • Take out in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • Now again in the heated saucepan, add the chopped peanuts.
  • Dry roast the peanuts over the low flame till they become crispy and crunchy.
  • When they start releasing the fragrant aroma, turn off the flame.
  • Take them to the blender, and when they become cool blend them to the crushed form. (buy blender online)
  • Now heat ghee in a nonstick pan on the low flame.
  • Also, add Jaggery in any form, either grated or the powder.
  • Mix well and cook for 4 minutes on low flame while stirring continuously. Let the Jaggery dissolve completely into the ghee.
  • When you feel that the Jaggery solution has been formed and has achieved the required consistency then stop stirring it.
  • Now add roasted sesame seeds, roasted and crushed peanuts and cardamom powder. Mix the dry ingredients with the Jaggery solution.
  • Cook the mixture on slow flame while stirring continuously.
  • Take a plate and grease it with oil or ghee.
  • Remove the prepared mixture on the greased plate.
  • Let the mixture cool for 2-3 minutes.
  • Grease your palms with oil. Take a small portion of the mixture and make a round shaped small balls.
  • Repeat the same process with the remaining mixture.
  • When the mixture is finished, and you are taking the last batch, check the sides and scrape the mixture from them.
  • Make the last Ladoo and place it in the plate.
  • Til Ladoo is ready to eat.
  • Store in an airtight container when the ladoo’s are completely cool.

Here I have added sesame seeds and peanuts but you can also add desiccated coconut. For the peanuts, you can use them as a whole and without roasting but their real charm comes when they roasted and crushed to the powder form. Even dry fruits of your choice can also be added. Whichever way you make, whichever ingredients you add into the mixture, the final flavors of this healthy and tasty Ladoo will take your heart away.

Remarks:

  • Total time of cooking is 30 minutes.
  • The measured proportion of ingredients makes 30 ladoo’s. You can increase or decrease the gauge of ingredients according to the number of people.
  • Desiccated coconut can also be added.
  • Dry fruits of your choice can be added.
  • Do not form the Ladoo when the mixture is too hot.
  • If you are not comfortable to make the shape of the Ladoo, then use the spoon and scoop out the mixture.
  • They can be stored for 1-2 weeks.
  • They are generally among the dishes made in “Uttrayan” along with Til Chikki.

Garnishing:

Serve the Till Ladoo alone as a sweet snack or as the side serve of the sweet dish with the complete meal or you can even eat alone. Garnish the circular surface of Ladoo with:
