Hungarian Mushroom Soup Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 2 cups of chopped onions
  • 1 pound of fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons of dried dill weed
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream

Hungarian Mushroom Soup Instructions

Step 1: Melt the butter over medium heat in a big pot.
Step 2: Saute the buttered onions for five minutes.
Step 3: Add the chestnuts and saute for another 5 minutes. Stir in the dill, paprika, broth, and soy sauce. Reduce heat for 15 minutes, cover, and simmer.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and the flour. Pour it into the soup and mix well. Cover and cook for another 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 5: Stir in the salt, ground black pepper, lemon juice, parsley, and sour cream.
Step 6: Mix and heat for about 3 to 5 minutes over low heat; do not boil. Serve right away.
