Some of you may be thinking that it is same as fruit salad recipe. This recipe is different from a fruit salad. In fruit salad, there is no spicy taste but in fruit Chaat, there is spicy touch also. The spices used in fruit Chaat recipe are Chaat masala, roasted cumin powder. Red chili powder is optional.

The types of fruit to be added in this recipe is fully your choice. Add your favorite fruits. Again add seasonal fruits. Thus every time you make this dish you will have a different taste. Plus and minus the ingredients according to your choice. In North, India people add tubers also along with fruits in this dish. Mainly potatoes and sweet potato. They are fried and then added. But being health conscious I have avoided that part. You can always add them.

Ingredients for Fruit Chaat Recipe:

  • Banana – 1 large
  • Apple – 1 large
  • Pineapple – 1 cup
  • Pomegranate – ½ cup
  • Papaya – ½ cup
  • Watermelon – 1 cup
  • Grapes – ¼ cup
  • Chaat Masala – ¼ tsp.
  • Roasted Cumin Seeds Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Red Chili Powder – ¼ tsp. ( optional )
  • Salt – as required (optional)

Note: You can add any fruit of your choice like orange, pears, plums, guava, or berries to this delicious Fruit Chaat. If it’s the summer, then it’s the season of mangoes! You may use ripened and juicy mangoes for this fruit chat as well the raw green mangoes.

Boiled sweet potato can also be added, they would taste really nice. So if you are sweet potatoes, then boil them first. Once boiled, peel off their skin and cut in them small pieces. After that, you can fry these sweet potatoes and then they can be added to the Fruit Chaat. But if you don’t have sweet potatoes then you can skip adding them.

You can use the normal potato as well. You have to boil the potatoes before using, and then remove their skin. You can chop them into small cubes or fry them as similar to the sweet potatoes.

The Method for Fruit Chaat Recipe:

Pre-Preparation:

  • Wash the bananas. Peel off their skin and chop them into small circular pieces.
  • Properly rinse the apple with clean fresh water. Peel its outer skin and chop into small cubical pieces.
  • Similarly, rinse and cut all the fruits you are using in cubes.
  • Keep all these chopped fruits in the refrigerator for some time.

Note: Remove the seeds from the watermelon and the grapes. The fruit can be chopped any size as per your preference. Though the desired size is small, you can cut the large pieces.

Preparation:

  • Take a deep mixing bowl.
  • Add all chopped fruits in it. You can use chopper for cutting them evenly.
  • Now, sprinkle the Chaat masala and spice powders like red chili powder and roasted cumin seeds powder.
  • Mix everything well with your hands or spoon.

Note: Add the spice powders based on the proportion of the fruits. The spiciness of these powders should not overpower the sweetness of the fresh and juicy fruits.
