  • Honey – 3 tbsp
  • Syrup – ½ cup (any sweet flavor)
  • Sugar – 3 cups
  • Lime Juice – ½ cup
  • Water – 2 ½ cups

Astorga Puff Pastries Recipe Steps:

Pre-Preparation:

  • Pre-heat the oven at 375 degree F (190 degree C).
  • Defrost the pastry sheets. Keep them in the refrigerator overnight.

The reason to store the sheets in refrigerator for whole night is because they are usually kept in chilled storage of stores.

Note: You can also defrost even by heating on stove for half hour.

Preparation:

  • Take the puff pastry sheets, unroll from the wax paper and roll it over your kitchen platform. Cut the equal sized small rectangle slices of the sheet. Pierce a small hole with help of scoop or spoon.
  • Take the baking tray, and spread these rectangle sheet evenly. Try to place pieces as near as possible, when they puff they won’t spread. Bake the cookie sheet in oven for 15 minutes.
  • Check the oven after 15 minutes, if the pastries have golden texture, then remove form the baking oven. Let them cool for few minutes.
  • Syrup: Heat sugar and honey over a medium flame in a sauce-pan. Add water and lime juice to this mixture (If you have lemon, squeeze half lemon). Stir well over a high flame till the sugar is translucent. Reduce the heat after the bubbles start blowing.
  • Take the baked pastries one by one and soak them into the sugary syrup. Flip from both the sides to have proper coating of the syrup. Use tongs so that the seasoning of syrup does not destroy while you are taking them off the sauce-pan and placing on a platter.

Note: Bake in the oven till the final texture of the pastry achieves golden brown color. Wait till the pastries are puffed! That’s its real piquancy.
