Aloo Chana Chaat Recipe : Potato Chickpea Snack!

Ingredients for Aloo Chana Chaat Recipe:

  • Boiled chickpeas/ chana/ Chole – 2 cups
  • Boiled potatoes – 2 pieces ( medium size )
  • Finely chopped onion – ¼ cup
  • Finely chopped tomatoes – ¼ cup
  • Chopped coriander leaves – 2-3 tbsp
  • Few crushed papdi
  • Tamarind chutney as required
  • Green chutney as required
  • Red chilli chutney as required
  • Sev as required
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice to taste.

Method for Aloo Chana Chaat Recipe:

Pre- Preparation:

  • Soak the chickpeas overnight. Wash and drain them.
  • Take a pressure cooker.
  • Pressure cook until it is cooked. Add salt while boiling the chickpeas.
  • Wash and boil the potatoes also.
  • Using Chopping Board/Chopper, chop the vegetables finely.

Making Aloo Chana Chaat :

  • Take a deep bowl. Add chana in it.
  • Add chopped boiled potatoes. Mix well.
  • Now add green chutney, tamarind chutney, red chilli chutney according to your taste and preferences.
  • Mix well.
  • Now, add chopped onions, chopped tomatoes. Mix well again.
  • Also add crushed papdi.
  • Add some lemon juice. It’s optional.
  • The aloo chana chaat is ready.

Usually, I prepare chutneys a day before. Red chilli chutney and tamarind chutney can be refrigerated for a long time like a week but green chutney can be preserved for a day or two.

Moreover, if you have some leftover boiled chana than the dish becomes very handy to make. When ever I make some chana dish like Chole bhature or chana masala I boil some extra chana for this dish to be prepared next day.

Chickpeas are not only tasty but healthy also. Chickpeas are a nutrient-dense food, providing rich content of protein, dietary fiber, folate, and certain dietary minerals such as iron and phosphorus.

Garnishing:

  • Take the Aloo chana mixture in a plate add some sev.
  • Sprinkle some chaat masala and some chopped coriander leaves.

Remarks:

  • Total time of cooking is 30 minutes.
  • Serves 3 people
  • The proportion of vegetables and chutney depends on your choice.
  • Various other veggies can also be added according to your preferences.
  • Chopped green chilli can be added to make it spicier.
  • Garlic chutney can also be added.
