  • Fresh Gingers – 2 cups (12 thin slices)
  • Grated Gingerroot – 2 tbsps.
  • Honey – 4 tsp.
  • Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Lime Juice – ½ tsp.
  • Sugar – ¼ tsp.
  • Filtered Water – 3 cups.

Note: Maple syrup can be used an alternative to the sugar.

It is very easy, simple and quick to make this healthy ginger tea at home. The important step is to properly grate the fresh gingers.

Pre-Preparation:

Grate Whole Ginger:

  • Peel the ginger root.
  • Grate the ginger zest with help of grater.
  • Use peeler or back of a spoon for peeling the ginger.
  • Thin slice the grated gingers. Pound the gingers.

Boil the Water:

  • Take a pot of water and keep it on the stove.
  • Heat it till the bubble start rising.
  • When the water reaches its boiling point, turn off the flame.
  • Let the boiled water get little warm.

Note: You can also use ginger paste instead of whole ginger.

Making Ginger Tea:

  • Take a medium sized saucepan or a teapot.
  • Keep it over the stove and on the flame.
  • Heat the grated gingers and add the ginger slices.
  • Mix sugar along with some boiling water in required amount.
  • Reduce the heat to low flame and simmer the mixture.
  • Bring the mixture to the boiling point for nearly 20 minutes.
  • Put the lid over the saucepan or cover the teapot.
  • Let the hot tea steep properly.
  • Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool.
  • Strain the ginger tea from the saucepan in a kettle.
  • This is will discard the ginger and keep only water.
  • Drizzle honey in a glass and pour the hot ginger tea.
  • Add few drop of fresh lime juice in the tea.
