Kachumber Salad Recipe

Kachumber Salad Recipe Ingredients:

  • Onions – 2 cups
  • Cucumber – 2 cups
  • Tomatoes – 2 cups
  • Cabbage – ¼ cup
  • Coriander Leaves – ¼ cup
  • Green Chilies – 1 piece
  • Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp.
  • Red Chili Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Chaat Masala – ¼ tsp.
  • Lemon Juice – 1 tsp.
  • Black Pepper – ¼ tsp.
  • Caster Sugar – ¼ tsp.
  • Shredded Mint – 1 tbsp.
  • Salt – as per taste

Note: You can also add spring onions. Vinegar is a good alternative to lime juice.

Kachumber Salad Recipe Steps:

Pre-Preparation:

  • Wash and finely chop the diced onions. Soak the onions in water for 15 minutes. Drain the extra water and let them dry.
  • Wash, Rinse and clean the cabbage. Finely Chop.
  • Wash and thin slice the cucumber.
  • Wash and roughly chop the sliced tomatoes.
  • Take the saucepan and roast the cumin seeds.

Note: Use chopping board for the best results. Soaking the onions reduces their strong flavor and even it burns less while you chop.

Preparation:

  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped onions, cabbage, tomatoes, and cucumber.
  • Mix well and squeeze lime juice.
  • Add coriander leaves and green chilies. Toss the bowl to mix well.
  • Sprinkle Red Chili powder, Chaat masala, salt, and pepper.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator.

And the chilled salad is ready to be savored!

Note: It is also preferred to use shredded cabbage. You can also serve the salad immediately without keeping into the fridge
